For Learners
With WebLearning you can enrol in, and study entire courses or single modules online.
Once enrolled, you will be able to participate in a range of learning activities much as you would experience in any normal classroom. But WebLearning VLE offers you a big advantage! You can study at your convenience and access your course from home, work or anywhere else you can connect to the Internet.
Research on the web is easy and you can communicate with your teacher or other class members through instant messaging, online discussion forums, blogs etc.
The type of learning materials available to you in WebLearning will depend on what your teacher(s) selects as appropriate and may include notes, a glossary, web-links, references and activities to do.
You can even do your assessments online. They will be graded by your teacher and returned with comments to help you review your work.
Online assessments may be in the form of:
- a self assessment
- a multiple choice quiz
- an assignment with multiple choice, short and long answers
- participation in a Bulletin Board discussion or monitored chat session
When studying online it is important to remember a few basic tips:
- use a desk large enough to accommodate your computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse pad and any peripheral devices (eg, printer)
- an ergonomic chair is recommended
- ensure adequate lighting and ventilation
- work in an environment free from distraction
- put your goal and study routine on your wall to keep you focussed!
